Back To School Kindercone

Have you ever heard of a “Kindercone”? I just learned about this cute German tradition for kids going into kindergarten, or any grade for that matter. Below is all the information you need to create your own back to school Kindercone. I just wish I would have known about these when my kiddo was in school.

The History Of The Kindercone

The Kindercone, also known as a Schultüte, is a German tradition dating back 200 years. Children starting kindergarten receive a paper cone, decorated, and filled with treats, school supplies, and toys to get them ready for the next stage of their lives.  What would your kid like in their Kindercone? I know my son would have loved gummy bears and a lot of mechanical pencils. I may have to make him one just for the heck of it.

How To Create Your Own Back To School Kindercone

Creating the back to school Kindercone is such a great way to surprise your kiddo with their school supplies. You can make it as big or small as you want. This is a very inexpensive craft to create, and you can make it out of different kinds of paper. I used card stock, but you could use construction paper, or even newspaper.

Items Needed

  • Card Stock (I used 4 pieces, but you can make it bigger with more pieces of paper)
  • Scotch Tape or Packing Tape
  • Tissue Paper
  • Ribbon
  • School Supplies
  • Snacks
  • Games or Toys

Directions

  1. Tape 4 pieces of paper together, sealing all the ends.
