10 Days 10 States Road Trip
A year ago I set out with a friend to travel the Pacific Northwest. We had 10 days to travel 10 states, and not only did we do it, I realized then that this is what I was meant to do. Taking a 10 days 10 states road trip, wasn’t easy, but it was so worth it. I saw so many sites and had so many experiences. This trip started my journey for the next 2 years.
Leaving Texas
That was the first day, the whole day. I love Texas, but it’s such a big state that you have to allow a full day to get out of it when you are on a road trip. West Texas is so beautiful, so many people talk about how boring it is. I love the open spaces, the windmills, tumbleweeds, and Amarillo. There is so much to do in the towns you don’t hear much about, like San Angelo, Lubbock and Amarillo.
New Mexico Fire Season
While driving through New Mexico I could see a fire just starting. It was scary, but pretty far away up in the mountains. As I got closer to my turn-off to head into Colorado, I could see that I was getting closer to the fire, one of the towns I went through was setting up for evacuations. I would learn later that this forest fire was really bad, but luckily everyone made it out okay.
Capulin Volcano
One of the great attractions in New Mexico is the Capulin Volcano National Monument. It’s definitely worth the drive, and be sure to keep driving past it to see some pretty cool sites.
Colorado Is My Second Home
Not only does my mom live in Colorado, but I feel so at home there. I could see myself living there some day, I try to visit there at least every other month because I love it so much. My favorite town there is a little town in the mountains called Evergreen. There is a coffee house call Java, and a winery that has some of the best wine I have ever tasted, and hands down the best butternut squash soup. There is a lake to hike around in the summer, and ice skate on in the winter.
Here We Come Utah
We headed out on our excursion around 6 am, and of course had to get coffee first. We would drink a lot of coffee on this trip. Finding local coffee spots is definitely one of my favorite things to do when traveling.
Boise City Idaho
Boise City Idaho was our first stop of the night. We stayed at a beautiful pet friendly hotel call The Inn at 500. I can’t wait to take the pups there sometime. There is a city central with a water play area, amazing restaurants and a great vibe for families or anyone that wants to have a safe and fun time.
Boise Market Day
The next day we walked the market day, which they have every weekend, it was amazing. There were so many great artisans, and local farmers there with some of the best vegetables and spices I have ever seen. Good thing I knew we had a lot of traveling still to do, or I would have broke the bank here.
Oregon is Beautiful
Oregon is one of those states that I always dreamed about going to. I knew it was going to be beautiful, but I really had no idea how beautiful this state was going to be. From the minute we passed the state line, I knew I was in for a treat. So many different terrains, and the fact that I went from dessert to forest to volcanoes to ocean was absolutely amazing to me. This is the state that I tell everyone is a must to go visit, and I mean visit every single part of it.
I Love The Goonies Movie
Did you know that you are not allowed to park on the street close to the original Goonies house. What is that you ask, well if you grew up in the 80’s you know, otherwise, check this out Goonies.
Washington Has A Lot To Offer
As we entered Washington state you could tell how amazing it was going to be. we made a quick stop in Seattle, had to visit the Market, and of course Starbucks. Then we headed off to visit some friends for dinner and a tour of Snoqualmie Falls. WOW was it beautiful, definitely a must see if you are in the area.
Washington Wine
Checking out some Washington Wine. On the way out of Washington to Montana we stumbled across a winery that you would never know existed, unless you know. Cave B Winery was nestled next to the Columbia River Gorge.
Oh Montana Where Have You Been All My Life
I could post for days on the beauty I saw in Montana. It is a big state, and every part of it is amazing. We started in Whitefish Montana, and headed to Glacier Park for the day. I hiked my first mountain around Lake Josephine. Saw bear, elk, and possibly a moose, that one is still up for debate. My next trip to Montana will be for more then a couple of days, there is so much to see and do. Check back for more on Montana.
My First Hike Was A Success
I was nervous and excited and scared to death about this hike. And now I am hooked, hooked on Montana, hiking and exploring more of this beautiful country.
Wyoming, So Beautiful I Went 3 Times
I have driven through Wyoming before, but it was such a fast trip, I didn’t get to explore. Not the case on this trip, though I can’t wait to go back. We needed to make Idaho by 5 pm, so the first time through was quick, but still so beautiful.
Wyoming Is Full Of Adventure
Yellowstone Park has waterfalls, mountain tops and bison. And then there are the Grand Tetons.
The Grand Tetons
I couldn’t believe how unbelievably amazing they were. Staring at them all day, could have become my new job and I would have been ok with that. They took my breath away and I certainly took enough pictures of then to last a lifetime. I really didn’t think there was anything as beautiful as those mountains. But after this trip, I can’t believe I waited so long to see so many beautiful places in the United States.
Jackson Hole Wyoming Is More Then A Ski Resort
We visited Jackson hole for only a couple hours, and realized there is so much to see and do. I can’t wait to come back to this beautiful city. Everyone was friendly, the food was great, and the scenery is absolutely amazing.
The Last of Our 10 Days 10 States Road Trip
This is the city park. There were live musicians, people relaxing and the weather was amazing in June.
The End Of An Amazing 10 Days 10 States Road Trip
We finished the trip where we began, back in the beautiful state of Colorado. Definitely one of my favorite states, the mountains are there, my favorite town of Evergreen is there, and of course my mom lives there. Check back for more on this amazing state.
