Creating summer cocktails from a Black Box of Spirits sounded quite interesting to me, and I couldn’t wait to give it a shot. A shot of vodka, a shot of tequila and a shot of whiskey. I was pleasantly surprised at how yummy these spirits from Black Box Spirits were. I love their wine and now I love their spirits. The Black Box Spirits are only available in Colorado, Louisiana, Missouri, New Jersey, Nevada and Pennsylvania right now, glad I happened to be in Colorado.
Creating Yummy Cocktails
I created these 3 cocktails using the Black Box Vodka and the Black Box Tequila, but you can use these spirits in any of your favorite cocktails. The whiskey is matured six years in American Oak for balanced caramel and oak aromas, with hints of rye spiciness. The Vodka is triple distilled, five times filtered and made with mountain spring water, Black Box Vodka has a crisp, clean taste and smooth, balanced finish. The Tequila is made in Mexico from fine blue agave for a lively citrus nose and a balanced flavor structure.
Hope you get a chance to enjoy these yummy Black Box Spirits, here are the 3 cocktail recipes I created for the Colorado’s Best TV segment.
Place mulled strawberries in the bottom of a rock glass and add the vodka and the lemon/lime soda. Place the lemon slice and the strawberry on the rim of the glass.
Pour the 3/4 cup of Black Box Tequila into a lidded container. Slice the Jalapeno (be sure to wash hands after) and place 4 slices into the 3/4 cup of Black Box Tequila, and place aside for 1 – 4 hours.
Slice up the watermelon and place it into a blender. Puree it until it is all liquid and strain it into a pitcher. Add the lime juice, simple syrup and triple sec and set in the refrigerator to chill.
After the Tequila has been infused by the jalapeno slices, take the slices out and the seeds. Pour the tequila into the pitcher, stir and enjoy. You can add salt to the rim of the glass and jalapeno slices to your cocktail if you would like.
