Hopping in the car and hitting the road has always been my favorite way to travel. It’s actually been my only way to travel since 1993. That’s right, the last time I was on a plane they still served you a hot meal, in coach. The last year hasn’t been as adventurous as usual for me. My biggest trip has been to the grocery store. But now that we are half way through 2021, I have decided to hit the road again. Road Trips through Texas can be short and fun, or take a whole day. My Boerne Texas road trip was close by, but we visited like it was our first time there.
Visit Boerne Texas
Not so long ago I was a resident of Boerne, TX. It was a short lived residency, but I loved it just the same. Small town feeling, with just enough amenities to keep you happy. We would have stayed in Boerne forever, but it wasn’t in the cards for us. Visiting Boerne is one of my favorite road trips. It’s only a 20-30 minute road trip from my house, and that’s taking the back roads, which makes the trip even more fun. This Boerne Texas road trip was for the weekend, and I was excited to pretend, even for a couple days, that I lived there again.

Plan Your Road Trip
We had a plan for this Boerne Texas road trip. The girls were coming with us, so we needed to plan accordingly. We picked a beautiful hotel to stay in. The Bevy Hotel by Hilton had a coffee bar and a full restaurant, yep, coffee all day, yay me.
Fun Fact:
BEVY (NOUN): A COLLECTION OF UNIQUE & CURIOUS THINGS
The Bevy was big city luxury with a small Texas town feel. And the food was high end cuisine, and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful with anything we needed.
Our room was perfect, and we felt very secure in knowing that everything was sanitized per the new standards.
A beautiful gift basket was waiting for us with items from around Boerne. Great way to get us excited about exploring all that Boerne has to offer.
Boerne Texas Road Trip Started Out With Ice Cream
Our first stop on the way to Boerne was an ice cream shop called Parker’s. Not only did they have amazing flavors to choose from, including gluten free options.
They had alcohol infused ice cream choices. I loved that they offer an ice cream flight, this gives you the ability to try a few different flavors, you know, in case you can’t choose just one, which at this place is very hard to do.
The pups even got their very own bowl of ice cream.

Barrelman Brewing Company
Our first brewery stop was Barrelman Brewing Company. They were getting ready for their grand opening in a couple weeks, and we were so wowed by this place. There is a great story behind the creation of this brewery, but you have to go there to find out.
Great atmosphere, extremely pet friendly, and they had my husbands favorite stout brew on tap.
The pretzel was a hit with the girls, I think they thought we ordered it for them. We will definitely be back to try out their new brews as they create them. They are located at 103 Ranger Drive, Ste A, Boerne, TX 78006.
Tusculum Brewing Company
After we went back to the hotel to freshen up, it was time to grab some dinner. We headed to our next brewery where we learned a little history, and had an amazing charcuterie board and a couple flights of beer. The Tusculum Brewing Co is housed in the H.O. Adler Building, most recently home to Bergmann Lumber Company. We sat outside in their very pet friendly area, there were 3 other dogs there.
I opted to try some of their new flavors, and the hubs enjoyed his go to beers. The charcuterie board was hands down the best one I have ever seen, I even had leftovers for a midnight snack later that night.
Day Two Of Our Boerne Texas Road Trip
We started day 2 off with an amazing breakfast and shopping trip to The Dienger Trading Company. The building was constructed in 1884 and became a fancy grocery store on the bottom and the Dienger family lived on the top level. It was great to learn the history of this historic building along with learning about all it has to offer now.
Everything at The Dienger Trading Co. was great. The girls loved watching all the people walking by as we enjoyed our latte and coffee.
Shopping The Hill Country Mile
Boerne Texas has amazing small town shops. When I lived here I had my favorite places to go, and now there are so many more shops. From candy, to antiques, to fashion, there is so much to choose from while strolling down main street.
Brews And Lunch
I couldn’t believe how how many brewing companies there were in Boerne. And the breweries we were visiting were absolutely amazing, including the Cibolo Creek Brewing Co. The fun part about this brewery was seating area faced the road so you were able to watch all the action on main street.
We decided on a flight of their known favorite brews. The hubs got the for lunch and I got one of the biggest salads I have ever seen. Everything was great, the beers were smooth and went perfect with our lunch choices.
Relaxing At The Bevy Hotel Before Dinner
We were pretty excited about dinner at The Bevy Provisions Company. Every time we passed the restaurant it smelled amazing. We decided on one appetizer, a couple cocktails and a light dinner. We had been eating a lot on this trip, but we wanted to try as much as we could.
I picked the Burrata Caprese for our appetizer.
And for our drinks, I got a Hill Country Distillers Mule for my cocktail, and of course the hubs got a beer.
For dinner I got the grilled 3 cheese and the hubs got a Hill Country burger. Both our meals came with fries. It was so much food, and everything was amazing.
Of course we couldn’t leave without trying one of their amazing dessert choices. We got the candied bacon brownie sundae with bourbon caramel sauce. I can’t wait to go back and try more of their menu.
Our Last Day On Our Boerne Texas Road Trip
You can’t go to Boerne without stopping by Black Rifle Coffee. It’s one of the husbands favorite coffee, we even have the pods delivered every month for our coffee maker. They treated us to a coffee and breakfast item of our choice. They have outside seating so you can bring your pets along when enjoying their amazing coffee.
Saved Our Old Stomping Grounds For Last
As I said earlier, we used to live in Boerne. Our son was young at that time, and we would take him to the river to feed the ducks, walk out his energy, and grab a bit and a beer at The Dodging Duck. (beer for us not him 🙂 We took the pets to the river before we headed over to check out The Dodging Duck and all the yummies they have.
Dodging Duck Brewery
The Dodging Duck Brewery has been around since we lived in Boerne. It’s the oldest running craft brewery in Boerne. So we had a little soft spot for this stop.
It was great speaking with the owners and the brewmaster, and reminiscing about the past. We enjoyed a flight of beer, an amazing pretzel, and the best cranberry mustard I have ever had.
On To Our Next Adventure
We had an amazing trip to Boerne. I was a little sad to leave a place I once called home, but glad to have learned so much about the Boerne scene. I will back to visit soon, as it is only a 30 minute drive, and I love taking the back roads there.
