Floating Cocktail For Mom

DIY Spa Experience For Mother’s Day

Creating a DIY Spa Experience for Mother’s Day doesn’t have to break the bank and can be the perfect gift for any mom. I love getting my nails done and getting a facial, but I don’t always have the time to go to the spa, so why not bring the spa home. I will share how to create a few different DIY Spa products like a foot scrub or a beautiful smelling soap.

Cocktails For Mom

I know I like my cocktails, especially when they are specially crafted by someone I love. This is a yummy cocktail that is sure to make your mom happy. It is called the Floating Cocktail and you can use mom’s favorite wine for this cocktail.

Items Needed

2 oz Rebecca Creek Whiskey

1 oz Fresh Lemon Juice

1 oz Simple Syrup

1/2 oz Fruity Red Wine

Fill a glass with ice and mix the first 3 ingredients, about 30 seconds. Gently pour 1/2 ounce fruity red wine (such as Shiraz or Malbec) over the back of a spoon held just above the drink’s surface so wine floats on top. Add a lemon slice and enjoy.

Lemon or Lavender Foot Scrub

Items Needed

1 Cup Epson Salt

1 Cup Sea Salt

2 Cups Baking Soda

12 – 15 Drops of Lemon or Lavender Essential Oils

Mix all ingredients and place in a seal container. You could decorate a Ball Jar for mom with some American acrylic paint. Just paint flowers or even polk-a-dots on the outside of the jar.

Mother’s Day DIY Soap

Lavender Chamomile Soap

Items Needed

1 Pound of Goats Milk Soap Base

Chamomile Tea (2 tea bags)

Lavender Essential Oil – 10 – 15 drops

Dried Lavender

Wilton Melting Pot

Silicone Soap Mold

First, cut the soap into cubes. Melt soap cubes in the Wilton Melting Pot or melt over a double boiler.

Next, stir in 10-15 drops of lavender essential oil into the melted soap. Then add 1-2 tablespoons dried lavender flowers. This will enhance the lavender scent and looks great mixed in the soap. Immediately open the tea bags and stir in dry chamomile tea leaves.

The soap will harden fast, so pour it into the soap mold and allow hardening for a few hours. Tip: if you see air bubbles on the surface you can spray them with rubbing alcohol.

For a decorative touch, wrap the soap in a pretty paper doily and add some twine and a label.

Eye Mask For Headaches

Items Needed

1 Cup Rice

3 – 4 drops of Lavender Oil

3 – 4 Drops of Peppermint Oil

Scrap Material

Hot Glue Gun

Decorative Ribbon

Scissors

Using a pair of sunglasses, draw a pattern onto the material and cut it out a little larger then what you need. Hot glue the mask together, all sides except one. Next, hot glue a piece of ribbon to each side of the mask, make sure each ribbon is around 18 inches long, this is what you will use to tie the mask to mom’s head.

Mix the rice and the oils together and fill the mask. Hot glue the last corner closed.
