I have been on a “Get Healthy” journey for quite a while. And I have fallen off that trail a few times, because of my cravings. Sugar has always been my late night craving. I have always been told not to eat late at night, until now. The book Always Eat After 7pm is helping me learn a healthy way to eat, and still indulge those cravings. I am learning that not every craving needs to be tamed with sugar, processed sugar that is.
There are so many late night snacks that are healthy, and contain natural sugars to tame my cravings. Always Eat After 7pm is teaching me the right way to eat. Even when you are a late night craver like me.
- “Scientists have established that consuming at least 20 grams of protein stimulates muscle protein synthesis for two to five hours after eating a meal. However, recent research also shows that protein synthesis drops to unexpectedly low levels during sleep, even if you eat ample protein during and after evening exercise. This has led researchers to speculate that this process may fall off during sleep if you don’t eat protein prior to bedtime.”
The Revolutionary Rule-Breaking Diet
The Revolutionary Rule-Breaking Diet That Lets You Enjoy Huge Dinners, Desserts, and Indulgent Snacks —While Burning Fat Overnight. This is the inspiration Joel Marion gives you in Always Eat After 7PM. When interviewed for this book, Joel’s answers really surprised me. But they also helped me understand why this is the perfect diet for me.
Q: What was the most surprising discovery when you were researching scientific data for the diet?
A: That almost everything my college education and certifications taught me was NOT grounded in published scientific research.
Q: You’re a six-time best selling author, what is different about this book compared to your others?
A: Although many of the concepts are similar, the biggest difference is that you don’t have to deprive yourself of your favorite foods. You don’t have to deal with the burden of eating every few hours. And you don’t have to skip the carbs at dinnertime or avoid eating before bed.
Q: How difficult is the Always Eat After 7 PM plan to follow?
A: It’s not. And that’s exactly why I wrote the book. While any diet is never truly easy, it can be more enjoyable and much easier to adhere to when you understand how Always Eat After 7pm works because it caters to our bodies natural instincts.
Fats Are Our Friends
Did you know that there are “Fat-burning” foods? That’s right, fat burns fat, well, sort of. Healthy fat are a great source of
- “In general, healthy fats can also help increase feelings of fullness and satisfaction because they regulate appetite through a number of mechanisms, including the release of appetite hormones. What’s more, combining fat with fiber has been shown to further increase the satiating potential of fat. The satiating power of fats is often one explanation offered to describe why some weight loss trials have shown that low-carbohydrate (and higher-fat) diets tend to lead to greater weight loss than low-fat diets.”
And now carbs are good for me, wait, what? I have always been told to cut back on carbs if you want to lose weight, especially for someone with a thyroid condition. But “Super Carbs” are a different story. I am learning what the best foods for my body are. Like “zoodles” instead of noodles, and shrimp is great with everything.
- “Avoiding carbohydrates and restricting calories later in the day can have an adverse effect on your thyroid hormones, which play a major role in metabolism. When the thyroid fails to secrete enough of the hormones that control metabolism, this can trigger symptoms like fatigue, depression, weight gain, thinning hair, and dry skin.”
