Create The Perfect “Big Game” Party

Create The Perfect “Big Game” Party

I have been watching the “Big Game” since I could talk. Our neighbors would come over, most of them were from Chicago, so I grew up loving the Chicago Bears, and I still do, even if they aren’t doing so good right now. We would always create the perfect “Big Game” party with all the yummy food and decorations, and of course I was in charge of the decorations.

Now that I am older, I still love to create the perfect “Big Game” party, whether there are 20 people there or just my husband and I.

Individual 7 Layer Dip Cups

Items Needed

Small plastic cups

Refried beans

Guacamole

Sour cream

Dom’s Chop Salsa

Shredded cheddar cheese

Sliced black olives

Chopped tomatoes

Chopped chives

Tortilla chips

This is a really easy snack to make ahead of time.  You can scoop the refried beans right out of the can or you can heat the beans up first.  Place a layer of beans into the plastic cup, then a layer of guacamole, layer of sour cream, layer of picante sauce and a layer shredded cheese.  If you are making them ahead of time, then cover at this point and place in the refrigerator.  Before you serve them, add diced tomatoes, sliced olives, and chopped chives.  Decorate with a tortilla chip and enjoy.

You could also create a 7 layer dip bar so your guests can pick what they would like in their individual cups, you can make the base, refried beans, guacamole and sour cream, ahead of time and place them in the refrigerator.

Football Cupcakes

Items Needed

Duncan Hines chocolate cake mix

Wilton baking cups

Wilton ready to use chocolate decorator icing

Wilton ready to decorate white icing

Wilton disposable decorating bags

Wilton open star decorating tip

Wilton tip coupler

Bake the cupcakes using the directions on the box.  Let them cool for a couple of hours.  Place the decorator tip into the decorating bag and tighten it with the coupler.  Fill the bag with the chocolate decorator icing.  Go back and forth on the top of the cupcake, making the lines thinner on the top and bottom to make it look like a football.  Draw lines on top with the white decorator icing to make it look like a football.

Football Strawberries

Items Needed

Fresh strawberries

Wilton dark chocolate candy melts

Wilton ready to decorate white icing

Wilton melting pot

Paper towels

Rinse and dry the strawberries, be sure to leave the stems and leaves on the strawberries.  Melt the dark chocolate candy melts in the Wilton melting pot or a double boiler.  Dip the tips of the strawberries into the melted candy melts and place them on a plate to cool, you can put the chocolate covered strawberries into the fridge to cool quicker.  Using the Wilton ready to decorate white icing, draw a line on the strawberries to look like a football.

Mini Taco Soup Cups

Items Needed

Tortillas – I used low carb, but you can use what you like

Large round cutter or round glass to use as a template

1 pound ground beef

McCormick taco seasoning

Hidden Valley ranch dressing mix

Bush’s pinto beans

Bush’s chili beans

Red Gold crushed tomatoes

Red Gold petite diced tomatoes

1 Can of water

Cupcake pan

Non-stick cooking spray

Shredded cheddar cheese

Sour cream

Brown the hamburger in a large pot, add the tomato sauce, crushed tomatoes, taco seasoning, ranch seasoning, both cans of beans and a can of water.  Let it simmer for 30 minutes.  While the soup is simmering, preheat the oven to 350 degrees.  Now, cut the tortillas into smaller circles, about 3 – 4” in diameter so they fit into the cupcake pan.  Lightly coat the cupcake pan with non-stick cooking spray or oil.  Place the cut tortillas into the cupcake pan, pressing them to the sides to make a cup.  Now bake them for about 5 minutes.  Once the taco soup is done, spoon it into the tortilla cup, sprinkle the top with shredded cheese and bake for another 10 minutes.  These are a great snack to make ahead of time and re-heat before the game.  Place a dollop of sour cream on the top and enjoy.

Stuffed Cucumbers

Items Needed

Cucumber – sliced very thick

Dip of your choice

I used a spinach artichoke dip from Tastefully Simple

Bacon bits

First, make your dip and place it in the refrigerator to cool.  Wash and cut the cucumbers about ½” thick, do not peel the skin off.  Next, spoon out the middle of the cucumber; be sure to leave a layer at the bottom.  Spoon the dip into the center of the cucumber and top it off with bacon bits.

Table Decor

Table Runner

Items Needed

Roll of white craft paper

Americana acrylic paint in white and green

Sponge Brush

Thin paint brush

Deco Art green paint marker

Deco Art white paint marker

Yard stick

First, cut your paper runner about 6 inches longer than your table.  Next, using the yard stick or ruler, measure the length of the paper and divide it by 10, you will want it to look like you have the correct amount of yards for your football field.  I used a ruler to measure the thickness of my yard lines.  Because the paper is white, you will only need to paint the green part.  Using the green Deco Art paint marker, draw straight lines where the yard lines will be.  Now paint in between the yard lines, only paint one layer so that the paper won’t curl.  Let the paint dry at least 30 minutes.  Draw your yard line numbers either by using a Deco Art paint marker or using white paint and a thin paint brush.  Let it dry and place it in the middle of your table.  Now it’s time to fill that football field with all your Super Bowl snacks.

Football Utensil Holder

Items Needed

Empty cans, washed and dried

Brown construction paper

Americana acrylic paint in white

Thin paint Brush

Glue dots

First you will want to wash and dry your cans.  Next, measure the construction paper to fit the outside of the can.  Draw lines using the white paint to make the paper look like a football.  Let it dry and then place it around the outside of the can using glue dots to hold it in place.  Fill the cans with silverware and napkins and anything else you will need for your Super Bowl party.

Football Coasters

Items Needed

Cork board sheets

Americana acrylic paint in white

Thin paint Brush

Cut the cork board sheet into the shape of a football; be sure to make it big enough to hold your drink of choice. Next, paint lines on the cork to make it look like a football.  Let it dry for about 10 minutes before you use it.

Football Drink Markers

Items Needed

Green card stock

Brown card stock

Americana acrylic paint in white

Thin paint Brush

Deco Art brown paint marker

String or wire

Cut circles about 1 – 2 inches in diameter out of the green card stock.  Next, cut small footballs out of the brown card stock, small enough to fit inside of the green circles.  Draw lines on the brown footballs using a Deco Art paint marker or a thin brush and white Americana acrylic paint.  Place the football onto the green circle with a glue dot.  Draw the names of the party attendees onto the green part of the circle with a brown Deco Art paint marker.  Poke a small hole into the circle and use string or wire to connect it to your drink of choice.
